From Pine Gate, nearby Jersey Shore is about a 25 minute drive and Cape May 1.5–2 hours. No fewer than 12 recreation areas are within ten minutes, including three parks with lighted baseball and soccer fields, basketball, tennis, and playgrounds. These parks are home to township-sponsored tennis, baseball, football, and other activities for residents of all ages.

An 18-hole golf course is 10 miles away. The 1,000-acre Cheesequake State Park with its nature trails, campsites, picnic grounds, and lake is just 20 miles from Pine Gate.
